This post originated from our 1000,000th FLMI celebration that took place in 2015. In honor of Life Insurance Awareness Month this year, we'd like to share this story with you.

The FLMI is a globally recognized professional designation, and we have designees around the world. We love hearing from them, and here are a few who share their stories:

Let me start at the beginning. Previously I was working with an IT company as a software engineer, but when I joined RGA Services India Ltd., one senior member suggested to me that I should take up FLMI courses. I wondered how it would help me, but when I started with the LOMA 280 exam, I found it very interesting and full of knowledge I could learn, and so I decided to go for my FLMI certification.

Now with this knowledge and a lot of understanding of the insurance business, from new business to profitability, I am very confident in my work and have technical IT blended with business talent .

I really liked the way LOMA explains the concepts in a simple, easy to understand manner. Kudos to LOMA staff .

Having attained this designation very recently, I feel very proud, with a satisfying degree of accomplishment to have completed this long, enduring yet worthwhile group of courses offered by LOMA. The fact that I have worked in the insurance industry since day one of my professional career, every single FLMI course affirmed my belief to go further, each of which renders a very encapsulating and complete education of the insurance and financial services industry.

Whilst gaining invaluable knowledge of the different practices, functions and regulations that govern the insurance industry, the FLMI designation also earns a great degree of respect among your peers and subordinates and deserved weightage on anyone’s professional profile.

Thank you very much, LOMA! Looking forward to continue this cycle of knowledge learning in the years to come.

Arvind Baliga, FLMI
Senior Consultant, Allstate, Bangalore, India

Upon completion of my MBA award, I pursued the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) qualification in India from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) & became a 'Chartered Insurer'. After coming to Singapore in 2010, while working with Prudential Singapore, I was encouraged to pursue LOMA. My company sponsored my LOMA certification & in December 2012 I became FLMI (Fellow-LOMA). Thanks to the Fellow, Insurance Institute of India (FIII) award I obtained in India, I was given exemptions by LOMA to study only seven units prior to achieving FLMI.

My achievement was highly appreciated in my organisation. Being a FLMI holder, I gained a wider perspective in the global insurance market in the Life & Health sector, which then helped me to carve a niche for myself in the field of insurance. FLMI has enhanced my knowledgebase in performing various in-depth insurance products related analysis.

I thank LOMA for its renowned and widely accepted qualifications and its constant dedication to promoting higher standards of competence and integrity among fellow insurance professionals across the globe. Thanks & Regards,

Sohinee Majumdar, FLMI, MBA (Gold Medalist), ACII (Chartered Insurer), FIII, Six Sigma Black Belt (Certified)

The program enables me to see the life insurance industry on a larger scope, and enables me to carry larger roles in my company. Best Regards,

Peter CK Tan, FLMI
