The LIC Human Resources Committee Meeting is a chance for HR executives from small-to-midsize life insurance companies and fraternals, and relevant service providers, to get together in a unique peer networking meeting. Join us to learn, share your thoughts, and get feedback from others involved in smaller-company human resources.
The 2026 HR Committee Meeting will be all virtual, a Webex networking and educational program on April 9, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern.
The meeting is open to insurance company and fraternal executives, with a discounted registration fee for LIC members. Affiliate Members/Vendors must sponsor the meeting in order to attend. Find out about LIC sponsorship opportunities.

In addition to attendee introductions and updates, where you'll hear about what's going on at other companies, the virtual meeting will feature:
- Robin Dahlka, SPHR, AVP, Human Resources at Baltimore Life on Succession Planning. Robin will present her company's succession planning process that began a few years ago, including what inspired it, their approach, current state, and what they might have done differently looking back three years.
- Requested discussion topics:
- How do companies handle professional development? Do they pay for the courses and then expect them to be completed on personal time? Do they pay for courses and allocate time during the work day for employees to complete their course work? Is it different for hourly vs. salaried employees?
- Employees Using AI: Do other companies allow this? What kinds of policies are in place to govern the use of AI?
- Recognition programs for small organizations
- Bonus allocation methods. Percentage of salary - fixed or range? Split on performance and goals? Weighting of goals? How to make this simple to communicate and apply.
