8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - Updates on PBR and the AG on Offshore Reinsurance

Bruce Friedland, MBA, FSA, MAAA, CLU, ChFC, Principal of Friedland Consulting Services LLC, will give updates on principle-based reserves for fixed annuities (VM-22) and the actuarial guideline (AG) dealing with asset adequacy testing on business using offshore reinsurance. The AG is moving quickly and there will be requirements in place for year end 2025. This will impact companies selling asset intensive business (like fixed annuities, PRT) using offshore reinsurance options (possibly captives also).

First, we will look at the potential synergies between RILA and VA products in an integrated hedging framework. Second, we will explore how a company might consider hedging FIA GLWB riders in an evolving landscape.
