Industry Strong Resources

Ed Rep Edition

It’s no question, COVID-19 has created a whirlwind of confusion, chaos, and uncertainty. How—and where—your company’s employees do their jobs looks very different these days. Still, this is also a great time to help your employees feel engaged through industry education! Encourage your remote workforce to work toward their professional development goals to ensure that your organization can come out of this season poised for greater things.

As your industry association, we are committed to continuing to empower you with knowledge, insights, connections, and solutions during this challenging time. As part of our commitment to you, we’ve gathered a variety of resources to assist you with your Ed Rep responsibilities in a remote work environment.

October is National Retirement Security Month

National Retirement Security Month is the perfect time to draw attention to the importance of preparing for a secure retirement — both for customers and ourselves. The updated SRI 500 – Transforming Retirement Security course and the Fellow, Secure Retirement Institute (FSRI) designation are excellent resources for your employees to build a strong foundation in the retirement industry.

Self–Proctored Exam for SRI 500 — Available Now!

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for some learners to complete the comprehensive exam (Step 2) portion of their enrollment in SRI 500 – Transforming Retirement Security. We are pleased to announce we have made some changes to ensure they are able to complete the exam without access to a proctored testing site! The self-proctored exam is now available.

Learners can now complete the entire FSRI program without the need for a proctored exam. Get more information from the Ed Rep Contact Blog!

Updated Compliance Courses — Now Available!

AIRC 411 — The Regulatory Environment for Life Insurance

With new content on FINRA rules and the SEC’s Regulation Best Interest, AIRC 411 — The Regulatory Environment for Life Insurance provides an overview of how the government regulates U.S. life insurance companies and the economic concepts behind those regulations. This course provides the knowledge learners need to feel secure working in today’s uncertain operating environment.

AIRC 421 — Regulation of Life Insurance Products, Sales, and Operations

This course will get learners up to speed on the regulation of life and annuity products in the United States. AIRC 421 — Regulation of Life Insurance Products, Sales, and Operations takes a dive into the regulatory side of life company operations such as sales and underwriting. Now covering the SECURE Act, Reg 187, Reg BI, and more, this course can help you serve customers with confidence.

Prometric Exam Option Being Discontinued

For many years, students have had the option of sitting for their proctored LOMA exams at Prometric Testing Centers. However, increased costs and decreased volume have resulted in Prometric testing no longer being a good fit for LOMA exams. Effective October 1, 2020, students can no longer enroll for Prometric exams. Effective January 1, 2021, LOMA exams will no longer be offered at Prometric testing sites. Students currently enrolled in a proctored exam at Prometric must sit for their exam before December 31, 2020, or change to a self-proctored exam option. Most LOMA designation program courses now offer self-proctored exam options, and more self-proctored exams are coming soon! More details available on the Ed Rep Contact Blog!

November Paper Exams

At this time, we are planning to hold the November 2020 paper exam administration as scheduled.

The safety of your learners is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the global COVID situation. Updates to our paper exam administration plans will be shared with enrolled students and their Ed Reps via email, on this page, on the login page at learning.loma.org, and on the Paper Exam Schedule on our website.

We encourage you to promote self-proctored options whenever possible.

Keep Your Learners Moving!

Your learners have goals – and so do you – around their professional development. While we understand the need to extend course access and testing deadlines in some cases, we also know it is important for folks to keep moving! We hope you will join with us to highly encourage learners to switch from a proctored to a self-proctored testing option when one is available. It’s FREE to make the change – why not do it now?

LOMA has several course options that don’t require a proctored testing environment. That means your learners can study the material AND take the exams while they’re in this remote work situation!

Contact us to have your learners’ enrollments moved to a self-proctored format today!

Deadlines and Delays

COVID-19 continues to impact the majority of our proctored testing locations. For learners who can’t make the switch to a self-proctored option, we will automatically extend their course access periods. Affected students and Ed Reps will be notified by email of any changes to their expiration dates. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make additional adjustments as necessary.

  • Certificates Delayed. Due to COVID-19, many of our associates are working remotely. This has delayed printing and mailing of LOMA designation certificates to our students. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. As we start to move toward a return to the office, we will resume shipping as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
