Study Finds Statistical Link Between Professional Development and
Enhanced Employee Performance
ATLANTA,
GA, June 30, 2004—While
many industry leaders have long felt that employee development
was a critical factor in improved performance that can enhance an
organization’s bottom line, a groundbreaking study from LOMA
quantifies the value of professional education in a way not previously
brought to light.
The study is based
on the analysis of employee records of a financial services company with
$20 billion in assets under management and more than 5,500 full-time
employees. It establishes a statistical link between higher ratings in
employee performance evaluations and those individuals who have earned
one of LOMA’s professional designations. The conclusions of this study
provide helpful guidance to employees and employers alike.
According to the
study, employees who have earned the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI)
designation are 39.2% more likely than those with no LOMA designations
to receive an ‘above average’ rating during their performance
evaluations. Also, employees having earned LOMA’s Associate
designations are 32.9% more likely to be rated ‘above average’ than
those with no LOMA designations.
“In
today’s competitive marketplace, employees who are looking to advance
their careers can enhance their career opportunities through
professional education while companies looking for standout performers
will know where to find them,” said William H. Rabel, Ph.D., FLMI, CLU,
LOMA’s Senior Vice President of Education & Training.
LOMA
has awarded more than 150,000 professional
designations in 12 professional designation programs within the
financial services industry, including more than 75,000 FLMI and almost
60,000 ACS designations. With award winning education programs now
translated into Bahasa Indonesia, French, Portuguese, Spanish,
Traditional and Simplified Chinese and Korean, LOMA offers more
opportunities then ever before for professional education and continued
employee development. To find out more about LOMA's education programs,
