What is LOMANET?
LOMANET is an Internet-based system through which Ed Reps and students can
access student information and enroll for examinations online.
What is I*STAR?
The I*STAR Examination Delivery System allows you to administer online examinations to
enrolled students in your company.
How can Ed Reps use LOMANET?
- Enroll students for paper and online examinations
- Register new students in the LOMANET database
- Conduct student searches
- Check students course records and their progress towards earning various
designations
- Maintain data about their companys locations
- Perform other tasks related to education program administration
How can students use LOMANET?
- Enroll themselves for examinations [if their Ed Rep allows them to do so]
- Update their student information in the LOMANET database
- Check their course records
- Check their progress towards earning various designations
- Take examinations online with the I*STAR Examination Delivery System
What are the hardware and software
requirements for LOMANET and I*STAR?
To use LOMANET, you will need:
- A personal computer
- Internet connection via a modem (56K or higher recommended) or a dedicated circuit (such
as a T1 line)
- Windows 95 (or higher) or Windows NT 4.0 (or higher)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (must be 4.0 or higher) or Netscape (4.51 or later
recommended)
- Standard SVGA monitor
To use I*STAR, you will need (in addition to the
above):
- 100 MB or more of unused hard disk space
- Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
For both LOMANET and I*STAR, we recommend
- A 200 MHz Pentium PC with 64 MB of memory
- A 17" monitor or larger
Are paper enrollment forms and exams
going away?
No. The system will support all of the paper administration and paper exam delivery
processes currently in effect; that is, participating companies can continue to use NCS
forms for enrollment, receive paper versions of computer-generated reports and administer
paper examinations if they desire to do so.
