How do I get started?
How do I decide between online and other courses?
Use these factors to help you determine which type of course is right for you:
- Time to study — LOMA's designation courses are a more comprehensive learning experience and take more time to complete. Most online courses are shorter and focused on specific topic areas.
- Reason for study — The designation courses provide in-depth looks at particular subjects and lead to one of LOMA's industry-standard designations. Online courses are more appropriate for short, just-in-time learning. The online courses typically do not lead towards a LOMA designation.
- Testing — Although each online course includes a short exam, the online courses typically do not require proctored testing; however, most designation courses, with the exception of LOMA 281 and LOMA 291, do require a proctored exam.
How do I find the right course?
LOMA provides a broad range of topics for insurance and financial services. The Education and Training Catalog can give you information about each designation course and the path for each designation. Additionally, the LOMALearn course catalog can be sorted by topic to help you identify your next step with shorter, online courses.
