Overview
The first level in the Fellow, Secure Retirement Institute (FSRI) provides an overview of the retirement marketplace and a strong foundation in retirement principles, products, and planning.
The three Level 1 courses:
- Provide foundational knowledge to help employees understand the retirement financial services environment in the United States including the retail and institutional marketplaces, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, and products for saving and investing
- Describe tax issues related to retirement savings and how various retirement plans and products work in the accumulation and decumulation stages
A Certificate in Retirement Essentials is awarded upon completion of three required courses, which are delivered in an online interactive format with integrated exams.
Courses
Learners must complete three required courses to earn the Certificate in Retirement Essentials.
This online interactive course provides an overview of the needs of people preparing for retirement, the key providers and products that offer solutions to those needs, and the critical concepts that affect retirement planning.
This online interactive course is designed to familiarize students with various retail and institutional financial products used to save and invest for retirement, as well as the tax implications of those products.
This online interactive course takes learners through the retirement planning process, identifies the tools that are available to help individuals create a retirement plan, and describes the primary components of a comprehensive retirement plan.

Course Credit Notes
Learners who have passed other LOMA courses—LOMA 286, LOMA 305, and AAPA 273—or have earned the FFSI, AAPA, or FLMI designations may be eligible for credit in the FSRI program if they complete their Certificate in Retirement Essentials or their ASRI by December 31, 2018.
