Recruiting, retaining and motivating the post Baby Boom generations
Sandy Allgeier returns this year after speaking at our 2007 Annual Meeting. Sandy has been a keynote speaker on Corporate Human Resource issues for several years. She has been the director of HR at several large companies including former LIC member Providian Corporation and KFC, Inc. Sandy is now a national faculty member and facilitator for the Society of Human Resources and has many corporate clients who depend on her help on internal HR issues. She is known for engaging her audience with a high degree of participation. Sandy has been a recent contributor to the Steven Covey book, “Conversations on Success,” in which she gives an extensive interview on what makes people successful. Her current area of interest is developing future corporate leaders and her presentation will inform you on best practices related to succession planning for major officers. Additionally, Pretence Hall publishing approached Sandy last year to write a book on "Personal Credibility," and how you both gain it and lose it. This book should appear in book stores in the very near future.

Tom Caraher is Vice President and Director of LIMRA’s Compliance and Regulatory Services team, which is well-known throughout the industry for providing “advantage in a regulatory world.” Tom is responsible for LIMRA’s Independent Producer Clearinghouse and the Customer Assurance Program, a service that monitors a company’s compliance system. The unit also provides member companies with an anti-money-laundering training program and other compliance training programs. Prior to joining LIMRA, Tom held various field and home office management positions for both MetLife and National Guardian Life. He is a 30-year veteran of the insurance industry and has a unique background in sales, field management, home office training, administration, and senior management. Tom attended Loyola University and graduated from Western Illinois University.
Dick Bauer is Senior Vice President of Columbian Financial Group since 2006. In 1992 he served as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Philanthropic Companies until Philanthropic was purchased by the Columbian Financial Group in 2006. He has served as an executive officer of several banking institutions - most notably Provident National Bank (now PNC Bank). He previously served as Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer of Miller Mason & Dickenson (now Aon Consulting). Dick is a graduate of Muhlenberg College, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Advanced Management Program. In addition to his duties at The Philanthropic Companies, Dick is a past Chairman of the Life Insurers Council, a Director of the Pennsylvania Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association, the Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance companies, and Alpha Tau Omega (national).
Susan O’Donnell is a Managing Director in the Boston office for Pearl Meyer & Partners and has consulted for over 20 years on executive, director and staff compensation issues. She serves as an advisor to Boards and Compensation Committees on a broad range of compensation and governance issues including total compensation philosophy, annual and long-term incentive/equity plan design, pay-for performance strategies, and succession planning. Susan has extensive experience in the financial services/banking, insurance, high technology and professional services industries. She has worked at several global human resources consulting firms including Watson Wyatt, Towers Perrin, Mercer and Hewitt. Susan received a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.B.A. from Babson College.

Nathan Fishbach is a shareholder at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he focuses upon complex civil and white collar litigation as well as representing governmental entities and professionals. Previously, he served for over 13 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, where he held the posts of Interim U.S. Attorney, Deputy U.S. Attorney, Civil Division Chief, and Assistant U. S. Attorney. While serving in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Nathan received numerous commendations from federal agencies for his work. He has lectured at federal and state prosecutors and agents national training programs, taught at the Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute in Washington, the FBI Academy in Quantico, and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco.
Gene Grabowski has been director of Media Relations for the A.C.L.I. One of the nation’s leading experts on product recalls and food crises, Gene, Senior Vice President of Levick Strategic Communications, was named Crisis Counselor of the Year in 2007 by PRNews. In 2007 alone, he handled the pet food, spinach, and toy recalls. He is also the strategist who has spearheaded the Guantanamo Bay campaign for the past four years.

The LIC is proud to present Lee Cockerell as the 2008 keynote speaker. He began his public speaking career after retiring in 2006 as the Executive Vice President of Operations for Walt Disney World Resort. As the Senior Operating Officer for nine years, Mr.
Cockerell led a team of 40,000 employees and was responsible for 20 hotels, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks and other operations that made the resort the number one vacation spot in the world. One of his lasting legacies was the creation of Disney’s Great Leader Strategies, which continues as the primary source for developing leaders at Walt Disney World. He now dedicates his time to public speaking and performing leadership and service excellent consulting for select companies as well as the Disney Institute.

products and services. Prior to McKinsey, Andriy earned a PhD in Physics from
the University of Connecticut.

Feild is the National Marketing Director for U.S. managed funds and an executive director of UBS Financial Services, Inc. He has over 29 years of experience in the securities industry after beginning his career as a broker-dealer. Nick has been responsible for managing UBS fee-based and wealth management sales. He graduated from East Texas University with a degree in Economics. His credentials include designation as a Certified Investment Analyst (CIMA). Nick spoke at last year's meeting and we expect him to update us on the predictions he made at that time.
