Frequently Asked Questions
LOMA recommends Adobe® Reader® for viewing the study materials in PDF format. The following troubleshooting tips are not inclusive of all versions of Adobe Reader or all operating systems. Your software or computer support service will be the best avenue of support.
If you cannot locate your issue within this document, you may send a screen shot and a detailed description of the problem and system to firstname.lastname@example.org; we will do our best to help troubleshoot.
For mobile devices Adobe Reader for iOS and Android can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store, Play Store for Android, or http://www.adobe.com/products/reader-mobile.html. Please make sure you read the Quick Start document that is included.

Why did LOMA remove the PDF security protection?
LOMA has committed to be the industry leader and provide our members and Learners exceptional service. Therefore, LOMA has been working on upgrading our systems and servers so that we can continue to deliver innovative education and knowledge.
Why are only the Course Portal PDFs accessible on mobile devices?
A protected PDF—or PPDF—(protected portable document format) software does not have a built in feature that will work with mobile devices.
Who will receive access to the PDFs?
Learners who enroll in the Course Portal courses will receive access.
Can Ed Reps of non-member companies receive access to the PDFs?
Can Ed Reps at LOMA reciprocal member companies receive access to the PDFs?
What is the cost for the study materials in the PDF format?
The price of the PDFs is included with your course enrollment.
How long does it take to download the materials?
Many factors, such as the connection type and network traffic, affect download speed. For faster downloads, avoid peak hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time). Demand for downloads can also be high the first week after a course release.
Can I request the study materials to be sent to me already pre-printed and not use the PDFs?
You can purchase a professionally printed textbook for an additional fee. The test preparation guide is not available.
I have a copy of the textbook; can I enroll for the exam only?
The PDF access will be available with course enrollment; enrollment is not available for the exam only.

When will I receive access to the PDF of the study materials?
Once you are enrolled for a Course Portal course that contains study materials in PDF, you will receive access. If the PDFs are not associated with a Course Portal, an e-mail will be sent to you with a link to the PPDF (protected portable document format) site. See LOMA’s Study Materials PPDF — FAQs.
If I already have a copy of the textbook, do I still need to pay the additional fees for the PDF?
Even if you have the textbook, you will be required to pay the full course enrollment fee, for which you will receive access to the PDF.
Do I have to study LOMA’s glossary terms when the definitions automatically show up on my device?
Yes. The feature of devices to defined terms or words may not necessarily represent the glossary term as represented in the course. It is the Learners responsibility to know the glossary definitions before taking a LOMA exam.
If I do not have access to the Internet at work or home, what should I do?
If your Ed Rep has accepted the LOMA Electronic Library Licensing Agreement, your Ed Rep will have access to the files. He or she can print the study materials for you.
Can I print out the study materials in PDF?
Yes, you are licensed to print one (1) copy.
What happens when the version of a textbook or other study materials changes?
You will be given access to the correct study materials based on your enrollment. If you purchase a fee transfer and the study materials change, when you re-enroll, you will then be given access to the new materials. Please consult LOMA’s Education & Training Catalog to ensure that you are aware of when courses and study materials are updated. IMPORTANT: It is the Learner’s responsibility to verify that they are using the correct materials.
How long will I have access to the PDFs?
You will have access to the PDFs to download or to print 1 copy for a course that you are enrolled in until your exam period ends. Typically, for I*STAR and Prometric exams, this is the end of the quarter in which you are enrolled. For paper exams, it is typically the end of June for May exams or the end of December for November exams. You can receive access to the PDF again once you purchase a fee transfer or re-enroll for the exam.
If there are several links for the study materials, do I need to study all of them?
Yes! Some study materials have been separated into several PDFs or Modules be sure to study all of the assigned materials.

Why can’t Ed Reps have access to the PDFs that do not require sign-in?
LOMA has been working on upgrading our systems and servers so that we can continue to deliver innovative education and knowledge. We have determined that adjustments made in a phases will have the least amount of impact, the removal of the sign-in feature will occur in a future phase.
When and how will I receive access to the PDF library?
You will be notified once the library is available and instructions on how to gain access.
Which study materials will I receive access to?
You will continue to receive access to English-language study materials available in the PPDF (protected portable document format) site, see the PPDF FAQs. Interactive Study Aids are not available when a Course Portal is available to learners. Study materials in any other language in which your company enrolls learners will be made available at a later date. The PPDF study materials will continue to be available in Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Will I receive access to updated study materials?
Yes, the updated editions of the study materials will be made available for download. Old study materials will be removed from access when the exam period expires.
Will I receive only one invoice for the study materials and exams?
Your invoice will include the course enrollment fee covering access to the PPDFs or PDFs available for the enrolled course and a course exam.
